Early AVG8 was really bad, it ran ok on some computers and bad on others, remove it and rerun the CCleaner cleanups and test before reinstalling a new Virus cleaner! I can do that. Is there an alternative AV that you would suggest pref. First make sure it is the problem! The below I am using and are also very good!

To add fuel to the fire about AVG8, it pulled my system down to an intolerably slow level, especially during boot. I made sure it wasn't initiating a scan at boot so that wasn't the problem. It was just an alpha dog that was taking over the system.

I dropped it and am running barefoot for the moment. I do an on-line scan on occasionally but never get any hits. If you are careful alert and knowledgeable , you can go without an AV program and save more time than they are worth.

That's just for me though, so you'll have to gauge your own level of risk management and tolerance. I understand fully! All the best. OK Great Larry I thought that might do it!
